Pocket Chef gives the customer a perfect cooking experience by integrating intelligent recipe discovery with a powerful recipe content management system. The mobile app enables users to explore recipes, manage pantry ingredients, scan food items using OCR technology, and receive personalized cooking suggestions.

On the administrative side, there is a backend portal to manage recipes, ingredients, and categories, and also manage users, ads, and app content. This backend portal will ease the operational admin side and help users to transform boring recipes into creative food ideas with the ingredients they have.

Challenge We Faced

To build a system where users can scan an image and receive a list of ingredients that meet the criteria of the recipes needed.
To develop a recipe database that comes with AI to drive dynamic user preference lists and recipes, and a user-friendly recipe, ingredient, and pantry system.
Designing an intuitive user experience that allows users to easily browse recipes, apply filters based on dietary preferences, and manage pantry ingredients without complexity.
To create an admin system that enables administrators to manage a recipe and create AI-driven content that will optimize the recipe.

Key Challenges Included

AI Ingredient Recognition Accuracy

The greatest challenge was the OCR system and establishing the accurate identification of ingredients in images and the correct recipe, so that reliable recommendations would be provided.

Real-Time Recipe Recommendation Engine

This meant that the system needed to be nicely designed so that it would be able to provide recipes at any time and so that the recipes would be aligned with the pantry and ingredient preferences of the user.

The development of a solid infrastructure so that there would be ease in the control and unceasing development of ingredient recipes and the different divisions was within a single growing and overflowing system.
